Reflections on a Whirlwind Fortnight: Industry Events, Innovation, and Inspiration

The past two weeks have been nothing short of a whirlwind — packed with industry insights, inspiring conversations, and moments that deserve to be shared. While LinkedIn can sometimes feel like a "real-time only" platform, we believe good stories are always worth telling — even if they come a little late!

A Standout Event: BAR Liverpool 🚛

One of the true highlights was attending BAR Liverpool, hosted by the British Association of Removers. It was a fantastic event that reminded us just how dynamic and resilient the removals industry really is. Even more inspiring was the strong representation of women throughout the event — a powerful reflection of the industry’s evolving landscape.

As a first-time attendee, I was genuinely touched by how welcoming everyone was. From seasoned professionals to the brilliant new generation of young movers, the energy in the room was contagious. A big thank you to all the lovely people who made it such a memorable experience.

Exploring AI’s Role in Removals

A major takeaway from BAR Liverpool was the incredible potential of artificial intelligence in our sector. Matthew Blakemore delivered a standout session, diving into everything from the balance of risk and reward, to managing online reputations and the growing phenomenon of AI fatigue. It’s clear that technology is reshaping our industry — and those who stay ahead of the curve will be best placed to thrive.

A Quick Detour: Goodwoof Festival 🐾

While I couldn’t stay for the full BAR weekend, I had a very important reason to dash — my four-legged companion Jim had a ticket to the Goodwoof Festival! If you’re a dog lover and haven’t been yet, it’s an unmissable experience. Truly, one of my favourite days of the year.

Women in Business: A Powerful Conversation

The momentum continued with the Women in Business webinar hosted by The Self Storage Association UK. As someone who grew up in a family business and now works in one that has experienced rapid growth, I found Helen Parsons’ insights incredibly powerful and relatable. Her experiences highlighted both the challenges and the rewards of building something lasting with heart and vision.

A Role to Be Proud Of

If it’s not already obvious — I’m absolutely loving my new role at PC Contracting Ltd. The support from the team, the pace of growth, and the opportunities to connect with others in the industry have made this an incredibly exciting chapter.
